Lady T’s Vintage Boudoir photo shoot – Johannesburg boudoir photographer

30 May

Lady T contacted me in February wanting to a boudoir shoot as a surprise gift for her boyfriend’s birthday present, I love that, what a fabulous gift to give your man and indeed yourself. The shoot was kept very hush, hush from Lady T’s boyfriend, as it was a surprise after all. We discussed various themes and finally decided to go with a vintage style boudoir photo shoot. I do so love me some vintage, so i was over the moon.

We found the perfect venue, an old Victorian style house in Parktown complete with antiques and a most fabulous energy. The gracious owners were very accommodating which made the shoot even more enjoyable because of the very chilled environment and the complete privacy they afforded us.  Lady T is gorgeous and such a beautiful person, she was nervous in the beginning, as was to be expected, but we quickly put her at ease and kept the vibe very light-hearted and fun. She was however very open to all our ideas and trusted us completely which really made a huge difference, and oh my word, did she have the most gorgeous lingerie and so much of it to choose from, so much of loveliness.

We had an absolute ball. I am so ecstatic with pics from a stunning vintage boudoir shoot with a gorgeous lady. What is even more important is that Lady T  absolutely loves her pics.   I loved every minute of Lady T’s shoot from concept to shooting, to post production.  I really  love, love, love what I do.

Here are the pics from Lady T’s vintage boudoir shoot, I’m sure that you will love them as much as I do.

Thanks to my photography partner, Sigrun Wagner for being amazing every step of the way, your contribution is, as always invaluable, and highly appreciated.  Thanks to Iliana Kirilova for doing Lady T’s lovely make-up.

Pillow talk – Boudoir Photography by Johannesburg photographer

Every woman has this desire to look glamorous and sexy, all while maintaining her class and sophistication, and lets face it – it’s an awesome confidence booster.

When you immortalize that radiant seduction in photos – you have a constant reminder of the powerhouse beauty that you are and what better setting than the one place in your house where you aren’t just the mom or just the wife?

Boudoir: is a lady’s private bedroom, sitting room or dressing room. Emphasis on the lady.

Commonly boudoir or pin up shoots have been categorized as risqué or tastelessly erotic – bordering on pornography perhaps – but this is not the case at all.  It is timeless and captures the intimate beauty of a woman, man or couple in a setting they themselves are comfortable with.

Growing in popularity, the idea of contemporary boudoir photography is to take variations of candid and posed photographs of a glamorous looking and confident feeling person partly clothed or in lingerie.

Nudity is more often implied than explicit – leaving much to the imagination of your significant other and maintaining the grace; and as mentioned sophistication of being a lady.

Commercially the boudoir or pin up shoot is marketed for brides to surprise their future husbands by gifting the images on or before their wedding day. A taste of things to come if you will.

Other motivations or inspiration for boudoir photography shoots include anniversaries, birthdays, Valentine’s Day, weight loss regimes, maternity, or just to celebrate the beautiful woman in you.

Think Bettie Page, Mae West, Clara Bow and Jean Harlow – all photographed in boudoir styled shoots capturing their elegance and sensuality all in one photo.

Sweet Judy Garland and her Ruby Red slippers were immortalized in the form of a pin up shoot in the 1940’s and still she is a beloved silver screen icon.  Twiggy had her very own pin up shoot, waif frame and all. Cindy Crawford, Raquel Welch, Brigitte Bardot, the list is endless – all woman who have had their sensual beauty captured and all of whom have had their moment in the sun.

What is your excuse for not having your moment in the light?
